Pearl Bailey (1918-1990) was an American actress and singer.  She played vaudeville, entertained the troops during World War II, and performed on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for the title role of the all-Black Hello, Dolly!  Pearl Bailey appeared on television and in films, and released more than two dozen records.
